Our experience in Kendari was far more welcoming than we had imagined. We never felt pressured, and the students who accompanied us often spoke English, which made it easy to connect and eventually form strong bonds. Other students would approach us with excitement, as if we were celebrities, while the teachers showed remarkable kindness. We were given the freedom to choose our classes and schedules, with very few restrictions, and our cooperating teachers guided us every step of the way — from observation week to evaluation day.

We never felt different in terms of culture, language, or social status. Instead, we were embraced as siblings, children, and friends — not as Filipinos with a different background, but as family. Kendari taught us more than how to teach despite language barriers; it offered profound life lessons that will remain with us forever. We learned to speak even when words were hard to find, to listen with empathy and openness, and to adjust our approach to differences with sensitivity and respect. Most importantly, Kendari taught us to love unconditionally — beyond race, nationality, or religion.

To our friends, teachers, and acquaintances in Indonesia, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Thank you for making our stay meaningful and for creating memories worth telling as a story. Though our time together was short, it was deeply impactful. Goodbye is not the end, but a new beginning — a chance to carry forward everything we have learned and experienced. Thank you, we love you all, and until our paths cross again.
